Makeover your Bed | Pottery Barn & Oh Lovely Day

I have to admit, I’m a little addicted to all-white everything. I have a white couch, white bath towels, a white high chair, and for about ten years, an all-white bed (though not the same linens that whole time!) I decided it was time for a change and a bed makeover. And with a little help from Pottery Barn, I kicked my all-white bed habit, at least for now. So I wanted to share my bed makeover and some tips for making over your own bed in case you get inspired. But first, the before…

This was our master bed before. All white, with some gold thrown in to compliment my gold polka dot wall. Now I do love the look of all white, especially because my room doesn’t get a ton of natural light and tends to be dark (great for sleeping but not so great for photo taking). But with little boys often in the bed, the white was looking dingy and needed a change. So I decided to switch it up to a more wear-friendly color and material.

Keep in mind I was dressing my bed and shooting it while watching two kiddos, so it doesn’t look as perfect as I’d like, but that’s real life right? And the new bedding may have sat unfolded in a laundry basket for a day (or three) before I put it on the bed. But that’s what I love about linen — it has that casual feel so a few wrinkles don’t hurt. And I kept my original throw pillows and polka dot pillow cases because they still worked with the grey. And because I love them.

You can find a full shopping guide below, in case you are inspired to makeover your own bed. I truly believe your bed needs to be a place that you love. It should be comfortable and feel luxurious (even if it isn’t really), and the right bed linens definitely make or break a good bed.

Have you had the same bed linens for years? Are you stuck in a bed rut? Then it’s time for a bed makeover. You will be so glad you did it.

And if you want tips for creating the perfect bed from start to finish, check out this post (from back when I had my all-white bed).
