Being a busy mom of three boys, I know firsthand how hard it can be to keep up with little kids. With each kid I’ve had, I’ve also gotten older — obvious, I know, but when you stop to think about what that means for your body, it is no wonder we have a hard time keeping up. One of the biggest struggles I’ve had is lower back pain. I attributed it to carrying around toddlers, lots of bending and lifting, and always being on my feet. But after trying lots of things to help (stretching and less lifting) and having the pain persist I started brainstorming other things that could help. What finally worked well for me might surprise you, because it wasn’t about my back at all. It was about my feet!

A doctor friend of mine suggested it might have to do with my shoes and the support (or lack of) that I was getting. So I started wearing only comfortable and supportive shoes. That helped a bit, but the pain still persisted. Comfortable sneakers weren’t quite enough, but I wasn’t ready to throw in the towel on youth and go head first into orthopedic footwear. Luckily I found a good compromise — support that I could wear with my cute and stylish shoes. The answer to my pain was Dr. Scholls® Custom Fit® Orthotics.

I’m not going to lie, at first I felt a little “old lady” about orthotic inserts. But I quickly realized that was just my hang-up. Everyone needs good foot support and shoes are not tailored to each person’s individual foot needs. So I finally headed to the Dr. Scholl’s® Custom Fit® Kiosk at Walmart. It is located right next to the pharmacy at my local store.

It might seem a little intimidating at first, but using the kiosk is actually really simple and you are walked through the entire process. Dr. Scholl’s® experts in biomechanics developed the advanced FootMapping® technology used in the Custom Fit® kiosk. It uses over 2,000 pressure sensors to create your Custom Footmap – identifying your arch type, foot length, and unique pressure points. In under 2 minutes, the kiosk evaluates all this data and recommends the Custom Fit® Orthotic Inserts that are right for you. You just remove your shoes, place your feet on the feet in the kiosk, and follow the prompts. So simple. I learned that I have low arches (which I did not know!) and high foot pressure. Based on that, I was recommended the Dr. Scholl’s® Custom Fit® Orthotics inserts that are right for me.

Since I started using them, I’ve noticed a big improvement in my lower back pain. They make every pair of shoes I use super comfy! They stay put inside my shoe, so the only reason I notice I’m wearing them is because they are so comfortable. And the best part is that you can remove them and use them in each pair of shoes you wear. They aren’t stuck inside one particular pair, which means you only need to buy one set. I’m so glad I got over my orthotics hang-up and tried Dr. Scholl’s® Custom Fit® Orthotics inserts. They got me through all of the corn mazes, autumn hikes, and trick-or-treating this fall!
