Happy December! Starting the month off with some pretty winter inspiration. I love a good winter e-session. Winter sessions give you more opportunities to play around with your wardrobe, and if you’re lucky, you might even get some snow. If you’re planning a winter engagement session, here is how to make the most of it and get some fabulous photos at the same time.
1. Go simple with props.
You don’t need a bunch of props in a winter engagement session — all you need are scarves, hats, an umbrella, hot cocoa, or a blanket. Bonus points pops of color or fun patterns incorporated into your photos.
2. Go outside.
While it may be cold, you should definitely take advantage of that winter weather for some beautiful photos. Country landscapes in winter make for some of the prettiest photos. And if you’re in the city instead of the country, keep in mind that crowds are smaller in the winter so you’re more likely to get photos at your favorite spot without a bunch of strangers around. Plus, SNOW!
3. Cozy Up.
Have a fireplace in your home? Consider a cozy shoot in front of a roaring fire. Or find someplace that has a fireplace and cozy up. Make hot cocoa. Cuddle in bed with a faux fur blanket. There’s nothing more romantic than getting cozy with your honey and that will translate in your photos.
4. Wear your winter best.
Pull out your cozy sweaters, winter boots, pom pom hats, and brightly colored scarves. Have a fabulous winter coat? Wear it! Have fun with your wardrobe and snuggle up in your winter best. You can do cute, fancy, or completely cozy.
5. Be Playful.
Have a snowball fight, cuddle under a blanket, or build a snowman. If you’re having fun, your photos will show it. And those really are the best kind of engagement photos. Am I right?
