Dave & Alex - Santa Barbara Wedding | Larissa Manibog Photography

When one of my favorite Lovely Vendors, Alex of Elegance by Alex, contacted me with an idea to surprise her husband for their two-year anniversary, I just had to say yes. Because I sure do love love, and I love helping to keep the love and romance going well beyond the wedding. Here’s some words from Alex about their wedding.

When David and I first got engaged we were one of those couples who had no idea how difficult the planning process of a wedding could be. We both come from HUGE families so when we were in the midst of making the guest list we couldn’t cut it down any less than 300 people (yeah, ouch!). Once we started putting together numbers, we decided to forgo the whole “big wedding” idea, and spend the money on a super nice, two-week, all-inclusive, first class honeymoon to Sandals Jamaica. We chose to have a super small intimate wedding of just 80 of our closest family & friends at the Santa Barbara Court House (which we paid just $250 for!) and had our reception at a quaint little restaurant on the cusp of Montecito & Santa Barbara. When everything was said and done, the grand total of our entire “wedding” (ceremony, including my dress, saving money on doing my own hair & makeup, venue, flowers, suit, hotel stay, honeymoon, food, drinks, cake & photographer ended up costing us a little under $7,000). It was super low-key and intimate. Completely perfect for both of our personalities because we are both those types of people.

Alex also asked me to share some words for her groom:

A Letter For David Where do I begin? How do you put two years of marriage and five years of our relationship into words? I have never been exceptionally eloquent when it comes to expressing my emotions (be it good or bad), especially when it comes to relationships, but all of that changed the day you walked into my life. I feel like when we met, I woke up, never realizing I had been asleep. You made me look at life, with all of its wonders and beauty in a whole new way. I have never been more excited about life and where we are headed together. We have been through a lot over the years, (and I’m sure there will be many more trials, tests, disappointments, joys, and celebrations we will experience as we continue on this journey together) but there is no one else in the world I would rather share all of that with, than you! I am constantly in awe of you. You are the most wonderful, loving, caring, and compassionate man, I have ever had the pleasure of knowing, and can’t believe I am privileged enough to call you my husband. You are everything I never knew I always wanted. Your constant support and belief in me has made me accomplish so much in the past five years. I’ve grown in so many ways because of you. For the first time in my life I am completely content in my own skin, both personally, and professionally (which is a pretty big deal for me), and it’s all because of you. Thank you for always being my number one cheerleader when I need some encouragement, and a shoulder for me to lean on when I need somewhere to rest my head. You’ve seen me through jobs, friendships, family, and taking scary the plunge into starting my own makeup business; Elegance By Alex, and encouraging me to go back to school to study hair for my future clients. Though I have my moments of self-doubt, of being capable of make a living doing what I love, you are always there to reassure me that everything will work itself out, and to just relax and enjoy the ride. You have shown me in everyway possible what true love is. You actions and the way you love me say it all. I can only hope to someday give you everything you have given me and more. I never imagined sharing my life with anyone, and now, I can not imagine my life without you. You’ve completely changed my world, and it’s all been for the better. You are my best friend and the love of my life. You made me see the sun shine, where there were once clouds. You believed in me so much, that I began to finally believe and have faith in myself. You are truly my once in a lifetime kind of person, and I feel so incredibly blessed that we found each other. I know that on anniversaries, you’re supposed to watch your wedding video, but being that we never had a videographer for our wedding, it makes doing that a little impossible. So, I had my friend Josh from Shed Light Photography put together this video of our engagement and wedding pictures . I hope you enjoyed this little surprise! I just wanted to do a little something special to let you know how much I love and appreciate you. I can’t wait to celebrate our second year of being married, in Big Sur CA, and  privately renew our vows on a hike! I love you and I’ll be seeing you <3  ~Always Yours

And Alex had a videographer put together a video of their engagement and wedding photos, since they didn’t have a wedding video. I’m obsessed with their retro engagement photos too. Such a sweet anniversary gift. Happy 2nd Anniversary, Alex & Dave!
