I love a good upcycle and I love turning readily available and cheap things into something fabulous (like I did with mason jars – remember when those were cheap?) Well, the next best thing to a mason jar (and maybe even better since they’re just as versatile and basically free if you go through your garbage) is the tin can. Did I just say tin cans are the new mason jar? Here are my favorite unique ways to use tin cans in your wedding.

You can spray paint them, cover them in lace or fabric, hang them, or use them as centerpieces, but any way you do it tin cans make fantastic floral containers. Use them alone, or mix and match them with mason jars, bottles, milk glass, or other containers.

Tin Can Getaway Car Decor

Not everyone has or needs a getaway car, but I love the vintage tin can decor idea so much I’d get creative in making one happen. Car, scooter, or tandem bicycle – get away on something for some photos and one of these. (I even have a DIY of an updated version coming your way soon!)

Tin Can Luminary Table Numbers

Make a creative table number that doubles as a luminary for your table. These punched tin can numbers are so easy (and you can find the full DIY tutorial here.)

Tin Can Invitations

How fun are these invites? The actual invitation is inside of a tin can, with instructions for the person invited to bring the can to the wedding to use to decorate the getaway car. So creative.

Tin Can Dessert Containers

Tin Can Favors

Plant herbs or succuents in tin cans and give them as wedding favors. You can decorate them with pom poms like I did for a recent baby shower (seen above) or keep them plain. You could also include table assignments and have them double as escort cards.

Did I miss any of your favorite tin can wedding ideas? I’ve been spray painting them gold (actually, I’ve been spray painting everything gold) and using them for all sorts of things lately. I love a super cheap DIY!
