Sometimes I get a submission, and I have a hard time picking my jaw up off the floor. It is THAT fabulous. Today’s wedding was one of those times – when Heidi Ryder sent it my way I OMGCOULDNOTWAIT to feature it. There is so much lovely, that I couldn’t include it all in the feature, so be sure to check out the gallery for every bit of gorgeous inspiration.
I come from a very traditional Mexican-Catholic family so I wanted our wedding to be very traditional. Javier was raised Catholic, yet not as traditional as I was. I was fortunate that Javier supported what I wanted and let me run with all the planning! I love the San Juan Capistrano Mission and knew that that was where I wanted to get married.
I wanted it to be elegant, yet not over the top. I wanted the reception to have rustic touches, since is was at my family’s orange grove ranch. I knew I wanted black and white to give it a touch of elegance yet wanted to incorporate colorful flowers, wood, lasso, twine, etc. to tone it down. Yet to me, more important than the décor was I wanted it to be a fun wedding! I had great food, awesome live music, a lot of alcohol and tons of Tequila Heradura (my family’s favorite). I also gave out mini Heraduras as favors! At midnight I had a taco man show up so the party went on till 3 am!
We planned over the course of a year, but in all honestly it all came together the last couple of weeks. It was INTENSE! When people ask me if everything turned out as planned, I laugh and say, NO! A lot goes on and stuff is missed, but if you are smart you will invest in a great photographer to help you remember all the moments. It all went by so quickly, I just reminded myself the day of that I just married the man I love so I just let things happen, had fun, and refused to stress about the little stuff…it all worked out and I had a blast!
I think the black & white stripes with the gold accents are what stole my heart on sight. But the way that the elegance is perfectly complimented with rustic touches is just perfection. And the bride’s gorgeous Vera gown and Pronovias lace veil are just ridiculous, right? Just so elegant. And the bride even added bits of DIY: drink straw tags (they said “cheers!” and “¡salud!”), the ring bearers bow & arrows and the flower girl floral crowns, and the ring pillow to name a few.

Eep! Thanks so much for the feature, Chandra! So glad you loved this wedding as much as I do. 🙂
So incredibly gorgeous 🙂 this was such a fun night!
Love love love the black and white! So gorgeous with those flowers and the touches of gold. The pictures in the orange grove are AMAZING!
Wonderful, what a webpage it is! This web site presents useful data to us, keep it up.
can the orange grove can be rented out? I know it said it was private but is there a possibility? My family is very traditional mexican as well and i fell in love with the san juan capistrano mission. I am having trouble finding a venue to accommodate both of our families and this orange grove is absolutely perfect! Everything about this wedding looked perfect. Your input is greatly appreciated!! <3 best wishes!
