You know I love vintage and you know I love DIY. So you know what I REALLY love? The perfect combo of the two! I call it a two-fer, you get two great things in one little detail. You know, two-for-one! So here’s my first Vintage + DIY Two-fer:
{the vintage} lace + doilies
{the DIY}
{luminaries}
Left: Using sugar starch, form doilies around a balloon. After it dries, pin prick balloon and remove and you have a doily bowl to hold tea lights. And you can use them as home decor after your wedding!
via Spirello
Right: Take pillar candles or hurricanes and wrap doilies (these were placemats, but you can use any type) around the candle and either tie ribbon or jute around it or lace jute through the doily holes at the seam to tie together. via Flea Market Finds
{bunting}
For these you basically just make bunting, but instead of fabric for the flags, you use doilies or pieces of lace. For a bunting tutorial go here (to sew) or here (or not to sew). via bunting boutique
{embroidery hoop decor}
Stretch your doilies or lace through an embroidery hoop, trim the edges, and hang them as wedding decor! Left via Little Lovelies, right via 100 Layer Cake
So, what do you think of today’s two-fers? What vintage element would you like to see in combination with a DIY project for the next feature? Or what other combination would you like to see?

Those doily bowls are amazing!! Won’t really match my wedding decor, but I just want to do them for my house!
Saw your tweet- I liked your post today! Doilies are fun 😛
Hey! Thanks for linking to my no-sew DIY bunting tutorial!
Hey! Are these doilies paper or fabric?
Those are all fabric doilies. But I imagine you could do something similar with paper ones at least for the luminaries.
